Star of Africa

I am participating in an international Bee! This is the block for the November Bee Janine, but I guess its better to be late than never! 
Janine sent us the dimensions of the block, 9 inches square and wanted us to make the butterfly design using national colours and writing a message in your own language! So I chose the colours of the Indian flag (changed the green a bit) and used block printed cotton. I used chain stitch for the embroidery as we use it a lot in Indian embroidery.

    Oh fiddlesticks, I didn't read the bit about national colours, mine is pinks and purples - NOT our national colours! Your block is lovely though! The writing is so pretty

    Brinda, I'm sorry I've just discovered I have been missing your posts because I mostly follow blogs from my blogroll and you somehow weren't added. I'm not sure how that happened because I have a special blogroll for my fellow bee members. I can only guess something didn't save when I put your blog in the first time. I love this block and I can't wait to start putting this quilt together :)
